LOS ANGELES, CA- Rhombus Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the Rhombus IM Platform Version 3.2.5. Building on the success and adoption of version 3.2, this new minor update provides additional stability and performance for key parts of the Rhombus IM platform.
The Rhombus IM client gets additional look and feel options, compatibility with Java 5, and much improved audio conferencing performance through UDP streaming. You can also choose your transmission quality to match your available bandwidth.
The 3.2.5 server has better memory management, increased stability, and other improvements.
Our support team highly recommends this update to existing Rhombus IM customers. Existing customers can easily upgrade by downloading the 3.2.5 patch JAR file and replacing the existing rimserver.jar file and restarting the server.
LOS ANGELES, CA- Rhombus Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the Rhombus IM Platform Version 3.2. Release 3.2 features several bold new features for both the server and client, as well as a number of general improvements to our existing IM infrastructure.
On the client side, Rhombus IM gets a visual update adding anti-aliasing, new icons, and the ability to customize fonts and colors. The Rhombus IM Client 3.2 also offers audio capabilities. Rhombus IM users can now have one-on-one audio conferences via the Rhombus IM Client using their existing computer audio components, without the firewall issues that typically accompany audio sessions. Audio conferencing is now as easy as clicking a button on the Rhombus IM Client, and is included in the current licensing price.
The 3.2 Platform also has built-in support for mobile clients, and ships with the mobile gateway that previously shipped as a separate product. The Rhombus IM mobile solution is the only real-world wireless IM solution that is currently shipping. It runs on any J2ME 1.0 phone, including those by Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens and Motorola.
The 3.2 Platform also features many new behind the scenes features. Our already advanced multicast clustering for servers has been enhanced to offer better support for extremely large deployments and organizations that wish to deploy servers over a wide geographical area. For deployments integrating Rhombus IM with Active Directory, 3.2 is able to recognize distinct personnel groupings in the AD UI, and then autopopulates the IM Client with coworkers within your UI. 3.2 also allows users to search and add contacts to the client by searching for first and last names as well as email addresses. The AD client autopopulation and search features are especially useful for large organizations, where wading through a roster of thousands of usernames makes IM use next to impossible.
For a complete overview of 3.2, please read our Version 3.2 Release Notes whitepaper. If you have any questions regarding release 3.2, please feel free to contact us.
If you are a current Rhombus IM customer, please be aware that you will need a new license from us in order to upgrade to 3.2.
